S3 Satcom is a Satellite Systems Integration Company specializing in the supply and installation of Fixed Satellite Earth Stations and VSAT Systems.

The Company’s Small Antenna Tracking System is a two or three axis small antenna motorized mount featuring a simple, beaconless, tracking controller and is ideal for VSAT or broadcast contribution applications using cheap inclined orbit space segment. The positioner functionality, in conjunction with polarization motorization, allows easy use as a multi-satellite transmit or receive only antenna.

Fixed Earth Station applications include Broadcast TV Uplinks for contribution and distribution, Direct-to-Home TV Uplinks and Telecom Earth Stations for voice and data. Systems range from RF only to fully integrated systems including a comprehensive range of baseband equipment.

MECHANICAL DRAUGHTSMAN

As a result of continuing growth, and a full order book, S3 are seeking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Draftsman to support the company across the breadth of its operations.  This opportunity would suit a candidate looking for a position within a small, dynamic company, and offering the chance to be involved in projects from conception to implementation, drawing upon a range of mechanical disciplines.

The candidate will preferably be educated to HNC/HND/degree level in a relevant engineering subject, conversant with a modern CAD software package and with a good knowledge and experience in the design of mechanical sub-assemblies including the specification and tolerancing of mechanical components, bearings, fasteners, finishes, and mechanical forces.  The Candidate should also have a sound knowledge and understanding of the associated manufacturing techniques.

The main job function is to provide assistance to the Drawing Office Manager in the design and procurement of waveguide networks, antenna system sub-assemblies, rack layouts, equipment front panels and ancillary components.  The successful candidate will also be expected to play an active role in supporting the company's SATSIO small antenna tracking system, demonstrating a knowledge and understanding of the key engineering disciplines and techniques required to ensure new development and innovation within this key product area. 

The job is based at the company’s headquarters in Witham and candidates should therefore live in, or be prepared to relocate to, the local area. All candidates should have an existing legal right to work in the UK.

The job is varied and offers opportunities for progression within the company.  The following section lists the typical functions the successful candidate will be required to carry out, either initially, or as a result of progression within the role;

  • Engineering assistance to Sales (floor plan layouts, mechanical design costing, etc)
  • Assistance to Project Management (specification, scheduling and procurement of mechanical assemblies).

  • Factory Test and Acceptance of mechanical sub-assemblies.
  • Site installation and commissioning of antenna assemblies.

Progression to Senior Level is desired, and may be accelerated for more senior/experienced candidates.

Software Engineer

As a result of continuing growth, and a full order book, S3 Satcom based at 9 Crittall Road, Witham, are seeking to recruit a keen and enthusiastic junior engineer to support the company across the breadth of its operations. This opportunity would suit a candidate looking for a position within a small, dynamic company and offering excellent opportunity for progression to more senior levels

The candidate will preferably be educated to HNC/HND/degree level in a relevant engineering subject, conversant with modern software design practises and tools. A good working knowledge of C++ is essential (preferably with the Embarcadero compiler) and ideally Javascript. The work involves interfacing to equipment via Ethernet, RSxxx serial ports, Parallel I/O etc and a good practical knowledge of appropriate techniques would be advantageous.

The main job function is to write drivers, and configurations for the company’s Remote Monitor and Control system and then testing the configuration on the actual equipment. The job also involves working with customers to ensure that the software is configured and works in the way that they use their system, and to provide training and support – both in the factory and on the customer’s site (worldwide). The successful candidate must be able and prepared to travel throughout the world in support of the company’s contracts.

The successful candidate will also be expected to write software for embedded systems such as the company's SATSIO small antenna tracking system, and to provide networking and IT support within the company.

Junior Engineer

As a result of continuing growth, and a full order book, S3 Satcom based at 9 Crittall Road, Witham, are seeking to recruit a keen and enthusiastic junior engineer to support the company across the breadth of its operations. This opportunity would suit a candidate looking for a position within a small, dynamic company and offering excellent opportunity for progression to more senior levels

The candidate will preferably be educated to HNC/HND/degree level in a relevant engineering subject, and showing a knowledge of (and interest in) Communications theory and preferably with experience in the field of Satellite Communications.

The main job function is to provide assistance to the Senior Engineers in the design of Satellite Communications systems and to assist in the on-site test and commissioning of systems. The role will potentially involve frequent travel throughout the world.
