Town Mayor and Inspector Visit WIW

December 5, 2017

The Mayor of Witham Cllr Mrs JoAnn Williams met members of Witham Industrial Watch at their quarterly meeting at Tiptree Patisserie this week.  The Mayor expressed her surprise and appreciation at the range of projects undertaken by WIW.  These projects have helped to raise standards on the estates, improve security for companies and their workforce.  As a result new businesses have been encouraged to come to Witham creating employment opportunities for the people living in the town.

Tighten security on vulnerable vehicles:  Inspector Mick Couldridge of Essex Police, who used to be based in Witham, praised the successful partnership of WIW and the Police giving an example of how evidence captured on cctv and ANPR had led to some very successful prosecutions; he thanked the estate managers: David and Ann for their assistance.  Encouraging members to be aware of the security of their vehicles the Inspector highlighted vulnerable vehicles and ways these could be made more secure; the local crime prevention officer can be contacted for specific advice.

The regular business of WIW was discussed: progress reports on the proposed new signage, upgrades to some of the CCTV cameras, general parking issues and the continuing saga of the verge in Crittall Road.

Phil Lawrence director of WIW explained the range of work undertaken by WIW directors and staff; acknowledging that without the passion and commitment of so many people we would not have had two successful BID (Business Improvement District) schemes approved by the businesses. The mince pies were good too!
